Frequently Asked Questions
1. What is the legal name of the District? The legal name of the district for purposes of applications is: School District 1, Denver Public Schools.
2. Who is the Authorized Representative of the District? Either the President of the Board of Education or the Superintendent
3. What is the District Indirect Cost? Indirect cost, or administrative overhead, is a percentage (calculated by the state) of direct costs that the District uses to cover costs such as: personnel offices, accounting, payroll, etc. Calculate indirect cost @ 4.67% of all budget line items, excluding equipment.
4. I want to write a grant to fund an after-school program—where do I start? Read the District Grants Procedure page in order to understand the process. Check the Grant Alerts to see if there are any grants that might fit your program, if not use the Essential Websites page to begin researching funders. Once you have found a few potential funders, use the Grant Proposal Writing section to plan your program and write a proposal.
5. Our school received a monetary donation directly (from an individual or group). Do we need to report it to the Grant Resource Center? If the donation is for more than $1,000 you will need to fill out the Grant Award Notification Form form and send it to the GRC with the check. The GRC will record this information and send it to accounting who will set up an account and contact you with the account number.
6. What percentages do I use to calculate Employee Benefits? Full Time Benefits: 33.19% Part Time/Hourly: 11.82% Extra Duty Pay: 2.46%
